Sleep Paralysis is a temporary inability to move or speak that occurs when falling asleep or while waking up. when a person has sleep paralysis then th eperson may be accompanied by hallucinations and is often linked to disrupted sleep patterns, stress, or sleep disorders, but it is generally harmless and it  resolves quickly. It occurs when a person is transitioning between sleep and wakefulness, resulting in temporary muscle immobility & the person feels sleep paralysis.

Sleep Paralysis Episodes can be frightening but typically last only a few seconds to a couple of minutes . Hallucinations may occur to a person , such as sensing a presence in the room & could feel abnormalities like seeing ghosts or a person could feel pressure on the chest.

Sleep Paralysis affects about 8% of the population, often starting in adolescence and peaking between ages 20 and 40. Sleep Paralysis usually does not cause physical harm, it could be very distressing for those who experience it. Person who attains sleep paralysis feels Inability to move any part of the body except the eyes. The person having sleep paralysis is not be able to speak during the episode. The person when having sleep paralysis get Feeling of fear or feels as he is dead.

Causes of Sleep Paralysis:

  • Insufficient sleep

  • Irregular sleep patterns

  • Family history of sleep paralysis

  • Sleeping on the back

Sleep paralysis itself does not lead to complications and generally does not interfere with overall sleep quality. It is not that serious issue or a disease but a state of mind , where the mind experiences it making feel ike the body is dead for few minutes . The preson experiences abnormalities like seeing ghosts which usually lasts for a very short period of time.
